Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need to bring a partner with me?

Partners are of course welcome, but you will dance with different people during a class or dance event. It is a very friendly atmosphere and you can feel comfortable turning up in a group or on your own.

Do I need to have dance shoes?

For the first couple lessons it is not essential to have special footwear, although we recommend shoes with a leather or smooth sole so that you can turn easily. Normal trainers have too much grip and could cause injury to ankles, knees and lower back.  As you progress and learn to spin and turn regularly, a pair of Dance or Jazz shoes  with leather or suede soles are recommended. Special Dance Trainers are also ideal. Men can wear any shoes with a leather sole. Ladies wearing heels need to make sure that their feet and ankles remain stable by buying shoes with appropriate straps and taking care that the heels are not so high that they are losing balance.

What level of fitness will I need?

Dancing is suitable for people of almost every level of fitness. You can progress at your own pace. If you have any concerns please consult your Doctor before commencing any new exercise.

What do people wear?

As for clothes, anything goes. Casual wear or dress up which ever makes you feel comfortable.

If you have any questions at all please call or e-mail.
